I became interested in photography as a child growing up in Southern California.  Using a borrowed a 35mm camera and learning to develop film and make prints in a community darkroom, I became captivated by seeing images slowly emerge from a tray of chemicals, almost as if by magic.  After high school, I spent several years working as a roadie for Elvis Presley before eventually returning to school.  I went on to earn BS, MD and MBA degrees, practice pediatrics, and later start several medical service companies and serve as Chief Medical Officer for national healthcare organizations.

Following decades in medicine and healthcare, I found my way back to photography and made the transition to digital imaging.  I completed a two-year, academically-oriented mentorship with photographic artist Bob Killen (of National Park Photography Expeditions) that included art history studies, university faculty critiques, and portfolio reviews with gallery and museum curators.  The program helped me develop a more personal visual language and continues to inform my deliberate approach to composition, color, perspective, and visual structure.

In 2026, my work was featured in the September issue (#38) of Dodho Magazine and in the Weekend Portfolios of L’œil de la Photographie, as well as included in two online exhibitions in ArtDoc Magazine.  My images have also been shown in juried exhibitions at Dusk Gallery in Santa Fe, Decode Gallery in Tucson, Modern Visual Arts Gallery in Bethlehem, Black  Box Gallery in Portland, and the Glasgow Gallery of Photography.
